About Me

Hi, my name is Monica and I am usually daydreaming my day away.  In serious need of a creative outlet for the things I truly love, I love daydreaming the most about food, nutrition, cooking, photography, and style.  This blog is my sweet escape from the daily grind.

Born a midwest girl, I am originally from the Chicago suburbs and went to college in the cornfields of Illinois.  After school, I did some of my own exploring to different cities.  I first moved to Jersey to start my corporate career and then found my way to San Francisco.  Now, I reside in the Los Angeles area and I am loving the sunny beautiful days.  I still love to travel here and there but home is where my heart is.

I am a recent newlywed.  My husband likes to remain anonymous as much as possible so you will not see a picture of him posted anywhere on my blog.  We have a dog child named Gracie who melts our hearts.

I am a self taught home cook.  I learned how to cook by watching endless hours of Food Network and through trial and error.  I was first introduced to real ingredients when I lived in San Francisco and received my first organic produce box straight from the farms.  I discovered my deep fascination with dark earthy greens like kale & swiss chard, blueberries & grapes that tasted like candy, and unfamiliar vegetables like romanesco & kohlrabi.  It completely changed the way I thought about food.   I learned how to cook wholesome meals that are nutritious for the body, mind, and soul.  These days, I do not cook with ingredients that contain any preservatives and that are minimally processed so you will see that I try to cook a lot of things from scratch and try my best to cook completely organic.  I believe that you are what you eat and if there is a secret to aging gracefully, eating consciously and nutritiously is probably it.

Writing is not my strong point so I try to fill my posts with lots of images.  I am a visual learner so I like showing pictures of everything because it helps me to remember things better.  I hope it does that for you too.

This blog was initially created for myself to document some recipes and for my friends to see what I am up to.   It shows a peak into my personal life through the DSLR camera that my sweet, generous husband surprised me with for Christmas this past year.  Best present ever.  Like eva ever.

Hope you enjoy reading!

xoxo,
Monica

This is one of my fav bible verses for encouragement.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7
